NYIT-Vancouver is inviting professionals in the fields of training, education, and technology to an open house on Wednesday, 22 April, from 4:00 – 6:00 pm. Attendees will join Vancouver Campus Dean and Executive Director Paul Dangerfield and other university officials to discuss the proposed Master of Science in Instructional Technology (M.S.-IT). Ten students, two alums, and one newly admitted graduate student from NYIT-Abu Dhabi visited New York City recently, with the aim of visiting the home base of their global university. With support from staff members and fellow students in both Abu Dhabi and New York, the Abu Dhabi group spent a week getting acquainted with the sights of the city and the campuses of NYIT. Photos.
On day one of the trip, Dean of Career Services John Hyde welcomed the visitors and a group of international student ambassadors, who generously volunteered to serve as tour guides to their fellow students. The ambassadors took shifts guiding the group to famous locales such as Times Square, the Empire State Building, Chinatown, and the Staten Island Ferry. One World Trade Center, the Statue of Liberty, and a Broadway musical were also on the agenda.
A diversion from tourist sights was a visit to NYIT-Old Westbury, where NYIT Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Rahmat Shoureshi, Ph.D., together with Vice Presidents Ronald Maggiore (Enrollment) and Patrick Love (Student Affairs), joined the Abu Dhabi group for lunch in NYIT de Seversky Mansion. Also present were Interior Design Acting Chair Robert Allen and officials from NYIT’s Academic Affairs and Global Academic Programs offices. Dr. Shoureshi interviewed students about their experiences, and all enjoyed the chance to interact with not only senior university officials, but also OW students and staff. More.
