NYIT students and staff spent three days this week greeting young people at Abu Dhabi’s major annual career and education fair, Najah. Najah (“success” in Arabic) was opened by His Excellency Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan, and took place 28-30 October. NYIT-Abu Dhabi’s Director of Marketing and Recruitment Sarah El Gohary and her team spent all day, every day interacting with some of the thousands of young high school and college-age students who attended the fair.
The Indian Graduate Student Association at NYIT hosted “Diwali Mela.” Diwali, or Festival of Lights, is an ancient Hindu festival celebrated in autumn annually. “Mela” simply means fair. The students brought Indian culture to the Manhattan NYIT campus, as many students came fully garbed in their traditional attire. The festival is often celebrated with family and friends, so our international Indian students felt right at home as they shared laughs, dances, and traditional Indian food.
