How do you ensure that your film is distinctive, finds an audience, and leverages social media in a way that truly makes an impact?  Award-winning maverick journalist Jon Alpert and Simon Kilmurry, executive producer of public television’s premier indie doc showcase POV, discuss the fine art of making films that make a difference in today’s documentary landscape.

Writer/Director Ryan Piers Williams stars alongside America Ferrera, Melonie Diaz, Jon Paul Phillips, Amber Tamblyn, Dree Hemingway, David Harbour, Academy Award nominee Common, Maria Dizzia and Adam Rappin in a character-driven drama centered around four restless New Yorkers and their shifting sexual and romantic relationships as they search for a sense of intimacy and self-identity.

As Mark (Williams), Silvia (Ferrera), Jen (Diaz) and Jake (Phillips) navigate through their emotionally-arrested states, X/Y reveals the honest and wanton desire we all have to connect with someone and what is at stake when that connection fades.

NYIT Animation & Film Festival 2015

College of Arts and Sciences

The NYIT Communication Arts and Fine Arts departments are putting together this year's showcase of short films, animations, commercials, music videos, short docs and more.

This program features the best works by students, faculty, staff, and alumni of NYIT at all campuses. A group of film professionals will serve as a jury, and cash prizes will be awarded to the competition winners.

Deadline: March 30, 2015

Late Deadline: April 21, 2015

Submission requirements: All NYIT students, faculty, staff, and alumni, regardless of their program or campus, are invited to submit work. Short films and animations should be no longer than 20 minutes. All materials submitted must be marked with film title, duration, and filmmaker(s)' email address and contact information. Files will be accepted through high quality downloads such as links to vimeo files, as well as google drive and dropbox. If you have files on DVDs, please submit to either of the following:

Ms. Karen Wolff, Room 200, Balding House, for NYIT-Old Westbury and global campuses
