Admission Requirements

M.B.A. Admission Requirements

The following are the admission requirements for M.B.A. and M.B.A. with concentrations in Finance or Tourism:

  • Hold a bachelor's degree or its equivalent from an accredited college or university.
  • Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale).
  • Demonstrate English proficiency. This can be done by submitting the Test of English as Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS):
    • TOEFL: A minimum written-based score of 550, a minimum computer-based score of 213, or a minimum Internet-based score of 79 is required for admission.
    • IELTS: A minimum score of 6.0 is required for admission.

Application Documents for M.B.A.

All application materials must be submitted in English. All translations must be certified and accompanied by official/original document(s).

  • All applicants for admission must submit a NYIT Global Application for Admission. Please be sure to indicate starting date, the desired program (MBA), and campus (Vancouver).
  • Application Fee: A non-refundable application fee of $50 USD.
  • Official Transcripts: Official transcripts are required of all applicants. Transfer credit for prior college work will not be awarded without official transcripts and submission of course outlines and descriptions. The NYIT MBA program consists of waivable and non-waivable courses. In order to waive a course, you must demonstrate that you have successfully completed an equivalent course at an accredited four year institution prior to enrolling at NYIT. If a course is not waived, it must be completed as part of the NYIT MBA program.
  • Identification: Please provide a copy of your passport or national identification card.
  • English Proficiency: Students must demonstrate English proficiency. This can be done by submitting IELTS or TOEFL.
  • Additional Documents: Other documents may be necessary to complete the admissions review.

Non-Canadian Applicants

Applicants who are not Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada must obtain a study permit from Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC). APPLY EARLY! A study permit application may take weeks or months to be approved. Contact a Canadian embassy, consulate, or immigration office or go to the CIC web site for a study permit application.

M.B.A. Scholarship

Applicants admitted to the M.B.A. Program at NYIT-Vancouver are considered for the Vancouver Graduate Scholar Award in the amount of $2,250 USD per year. This merit-based scholarship recognizes students who achieved academic excellence during their undergraduate studies. To be considered for the award, file an application with all required documents and transcripts to the office of admissions. The scholarship is renewable to full time students who maintain a GPA of 3.0.

M.S.-INCS Admission Requirements

•    Applicants must have earned a four-year bachelor degree (or its equivalent) in computer  science, information technology, engineering or a related field from an appropriately accredited college or university.
•    Applicants must have earned a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of at least 2.85 (out of 4.0) or equivalent.
•    Applicants who hold a degree or diploma which is equivalent to three years of undergraduate study in Canada or the U.S. in computer science, engineering, or a related area, may be eligible to be admitted into a bridge program jointly with one of our local partner               institutions.
•    English proficiency must be met by submitting either a TOEFL score of 89 IBT or IELTS score of 6.5 overall, or the equivalent. Graduates from North American institutions and other English speaking countries may be exempt from English proficiency testing.
