President Edward Guiliano, Ph.D., with his counterpart President Yang Zhen of Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications (NUPT), welcomed 238 first-year students to NYIT-Nanjing at NUPT. Students at NYIT-Nanjing earn bachelor’s degrees from both NYIT and NUPT, and they spend their final year at an NYIT campus in New York.
NYIT-Nanjing’s American cultural center, established in 2011 to promote intercultural understanding, has received a $50,000 grant from the U.S. State Department to sponsor cultural programming during 2014-15. Beverly Butcher, Ph.D., associate professor and English department chair, and director of the NYIT Center for Humanities and Culture at NUPT, announced the good news while sharing plans for this year’s events, which will surround the theme “Folk Arts in New York State.”
