Continuing its leadership in providing American-style higher education in China, NYIT has launched a China-foreign cooperatively run institution with the prestigious Communication University of China (CUC) in Beijing. NYIT Center for Humanities and Culture at NUPT will host a prominent New York folklorist this Thursday, 14 May, from 12:30 - 1:30 p.m. Robert Baron, Ph.D., Director of the Folk Arts Program of the New York State Council of the Arts will present “Folk Arts of New York State: City and Country Lore,” with an overview of New York folk traditions. Students enjoyed a showing last night of the groundbreaking film Do the Right Thing (1989) in a film series hosted by the NYIT Center for Humanities and Culture at NUPT. Afterward, Dean Monique Taylor led a discussion of the issues brought out in the film, which focuses on racial tensions in 1980s New York City. Taylor is a scholar of U.S. race relations. More.
Together with valued local partners Jiangsu Consulting Center for University Enrollment and Career Development and the European Chamber of Commerce in China, NYIT co-sponsored a successful career fair last weekend. Students who attended were able to interact with employers, share their resumes, and learn what opportunities await university graduates. More.
