NYIT Hosts Regional Student Physical Therapy Conference Led by student Jamie Mott, NYIT hosted a regional conference for more than 170 physical therapy students on November 7. The Long Island Student Physical Therapy Conference included 20 workshops and sessions on a range of topics, including concussions, injury taping, and residency and fellowship training.

PT Alumna Wins National Student Research Award For the second year in a row, a graduate of NYIT's physical therapy program has won a national student research award.

DPT Students Visit Geriatric Center to Practice Clinical Skills First-year Doctor of Physical Therapy students practiced clinic examination skills last week at the Gurwin Jewish Geriatric Center in Commack, N.Y. The students worked in groups to practice basic skills, including reflex testing, how to take patient histories, sensory assessments, range of motion and manual muscle testing, and neurological screenings.

NYIT PT Students and Faculty Serve Up Care at Yonex U.S. Badminton Open

NYIT physical therapy students volunteered their skills to world-class athletes at the Yonex U.S. Badminton Open, June 16-21 at Suffolk Community College in Brentwood, N.Y. The tournament was a qualifying event for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

“The tournament allowed NYIT to showcase our highly successful, accredited D.P.T. (Doctor of Physical Therapy) program and faculty and students, and provided great exposure for the field of physical therapy in a unique setting,” said Department Chair Karen Friel, who accompanied the students with Assistant Professor Teri Ingenito and Associate Professor Veronica Southard.
