College Fed Challenge is a team competition for undergraduate college students sponsored by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and the Eastern Economic Association. It is intended to encourage students to learn more about the U.S. macro economy, the Federal Reserve System and the implementation of monetary policy. It is also aimed at spurring interest in economics and finance as subjects for advanced study and the basis for a career.
-Earn 3 credits for Fall 2011 (ECON 203/BUSI 403)
-Learn about Economic Indicators & Monetary Policy and compete with local institutions on economic outlook

NYIT's School of Management hosted "An Evening with the Entrepreneurs: A Networking and Learning Opportunity" on March 7 at the Manhattan campus. Moderated by Professor William Lawrence, Ph.D., the event featured three NYIT alumni who spoke to students and faculty about their entrepreneurial successes and how their NYIT degrees helped shape their careers. NYIT School of Management and the Center for Entrepreneurial Studies invites students, faculty, staff, and their guests to join an open discussion with NYIT alumni entrepreneurs who will share their experiences starting and managing successful small businesses. The event will take place on Thursday, March 7 at 6 in the 11th floor auditorium of the New Technology Building, 16 W. 61st St., NYIT-Manhattan.

Two NYIT interdisciplinary student teams won Peoples’ Choice Awards at the New York State Business Plan Competition. The teams – with representatives from the School of Management, School of Architecture and Design, School of Engineering and Computing Sciences, and College of Arts and Sciences -- spent nearly five months researching and perfecting separate strategies for two businesses: an online interactive game to save endangered animals and a water-bottle roofing system that can be used in disaster relief. At the April 26th competition, team leaders presented elevator pitches for their projects. Dr. Joanne Scillitoe,director of the Center for Entrepreneurial Studies and an associate professor of entrepreneurship in NYIT’s School of Management, was a faculty advisor for both projects. School of Management students who were involved in the winning projects were: Arjun Rai, Shixian Jiang, and Dawei Pang.
Jennifer Rosenblum, a graduate student enrolled in the M.S. in Human Resource Management and Labor Relations program at NYIT’s School of Management, is the 2012 recipient of the Matt Halpern Memorial Award.

Brand Management And Promotion Strategies Using Social Media

The Corporate Challenge is a competition where student groups perform field work on a case study prepared by the School of Management and a local business organization. The case study is relevant to emerging issues in business and addresses an ongoing project provided by the local business.
MassChallenge.org, a not-for-profit organization dedicated towards helping budding entrepreneurs find the right resources and financial support, will be speaking on February 23rd from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm. As the world's largest startup competition and accelerator program, finding the right mentor network and resources has never been easier. If you are interested in startups, entrepreneurship and venture capital, this event is for you! The speaking session will take place at the 11th Floor Auditorium, conveniently located at 16 W. 61St, and is made possible by TheBizDen. Please RSVP here.
School of Management's Center for Human Resources Studies has received approval by the Human Resource Certification Institute as an Approved Provider of course work that will qualify for recertification credit for individuals who hold professional HR certification as PHRs, SPHRs , or GPHRs. To maintain their certification, these individuals must complete 60-hours of approved credits every three years.
We expect to begin offering courses for recertification credit this spring. The Center currently offers preparation courses in Manhattan and Old Westbury for individuals preparing for their initial certification exams. The new destination enables the Center to expand its educational course offering to the HR professional community.
