First name: Jasmeet Singh Question: I'm looking forward to joining the MBA program in January 2013. Is the MBA program at the Vancouver campus AACSB accredited? Jasmeet, welcome to NYIT! Currently the School of Management is under consideration for AACSB Accreditation. That means that our application has been accepted and that we are currently working with an assigned mentor to develop our AACSB Standards Alignment Plan. The MBA program at all our global campuses are included in this consideration. It is expected that we will reach accreditation in the next two to three year. The MBA program in Vancouver is currently DQAB Accredited.

Question: How many years does it take to be an analyst in a investment bank? Hello Sean! That’s a simple question with a not-so-simple answer as there are a lot of factors involved. First – different banks will have different hiring practices. Second – your work experience, academic experience, and aptitude will impact the qualifications required for the specific position. If you hope to be an analyst in an investment bank, I would strongly suggest that you meet with the faculty in the Accounting & Finance department to plan your course of study and discuss your plans for internships and experiential education in order to get a solid start. You should start by meeting with Dr. J.K. Yun (.(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)).

First name: Joel Question: Dean Boronico, I am a marketing major in the SOM. I hope to become a marketing account executive upon graduation from NYIT. In the week of Oct 1-5, you gave me and 19 other students the opportunity to go the NYC for Advertising Week, free of charge. I truly cannot thank you enough! I was able to meet marketing executive of major companies and I believe the networking event will lead to a summer internship. Thanks again! Student Marketer, Joel Mercedes Joel, that's wonderful news! I think it's important to provide students with these opportunities and other Student Advancement initiative and when students have experiences like the one you had at Advertising Week, it's worth all the effort!

Question: What courses should I take in order for I to be an investment banker. Should I major in finance if I want to be an investment banker? Is accounting an important course related to investment banking? Sean, I believe you’re on the right track! I would definitely recommend that you study finance if you want to become an investment banker. Accounting is indeed important in the study of finance and you will see that the finance concentration in our BSBA program includes a few accounting courses such as Managerial Accounting and Financial Statement Analysis. Good luck! http://www.nyit.edu/management/undergraduate/business_admin/finance/

Ahmad:  how many days I need to change from MBA concentration finance to MBA general?

Ahmad, there is no deadline to change you concentration. You may want to give thought to the impact the change my have on classes you choose - my suggestion is that you meet with your advisor as soon as possible. You can then plan your class schedule so that your concentration change will minimally impact your anticipated date of graduation. Your advisor can help to ensure that you are able to get the courses you need.

Abdulrahman:  I would like to study a Master degree in Management Information System (MIST).

I would like to study a Master degree in Management Information System (MIST). I have a Bachelor degree in Computer Information System with a GPA of 4.03 out of 5. I've read in NYIT website that you don't require GRE for this program. I just want to make sure if that's right, and when can I apply. Abdulrahman, you are not required to take the GMAT if you have a 3.0 or higher out of 4.0 for your GPA. It looks like you qualify! As for the Master's Programs, the School of Management offers an MBA with concentrations in Marketing, Finance, or the Decision Sciences. You may apply at any time.

Are you accepting students on rolling admissions or is there a deadline for the Master in Human Resources? Hello Sreeja, If you have already earned your undergraduate degree and have been enrolled in a graduate degree program, you would be eligible as a graduate student in our MS in Human Resource Management program. You would have to contact Dr. Maya Kroumova, the Chair of the Department of Human Resource Management (.(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address), 516-686-7722 or 212-261-1667) to determine whether the credits you earned in your previous MPA program could be transferred.
