AIA Regional Post Sandy Recovery Working Group Workshop

Over 120 attendees gathered at the NYIT deSeversky Center on March 31th for the sold out "Regional Post Sandy Recovery Working Group Workshop". The event was co-organized by the New York Institute of Technology School of Architecture and Design, the AIANY, the AIANY design for risk and reconstruction committee, AIA New York State, and AIA New Jersey. Participants shared experience and case studies of recovery efforts across the region, highlighted best practices, compared changes to building codes and updates to state and federal procedures. NYIT School of Architecture and Design Associate Dean Frank and AIA Design for Risk and Recovery co-chair Illya Azaroff opened the session with remarks on the importance of sharing resilience and recovery intelligence across geographic boundaries.

Odile Decq, Award Winning French Architect / Academic Will Lecture At NYIT

Internationally renowned architect Odile Decq will give a presentation to NYIT's School of Architecture and Design on April 10, 2014 at Steelcase in Manhattan. In 1990, Odile Decq won her first major commission: the Banque Populaire de l’Ouest in Rennes and was considered a designer for the future; her projects generating significant interest. Odile Decq’s architecture offers a paradoxical look, both tender and severe, on today’s world.
