NYIT has built a reputation for promoting forward-thinking ideas and innovative technologies. Students and alumni are involved in community outreach, fundraising, research, marketing, global programs, and interdisciplinary activities. Our research centers' career- and applications-oriented mission dovetails NYIT's 2030 Strategic Plan, mirroring the School of Engineering and Computing Sciences' goal to change the face of engineering education.
The Center for Information and Internet Technology facilitates practical applications of related technologies through the development of improved product and services. In partnership with the private sector and government entities, the center initiates and supports research in order to create a sense of community and of renewed pride through a multi-pronged approach to education.
The Center for Energy, Environment, and Economics conducts research, evaluates policy options, and advances environmentally friendly technology in order to understand the role of engineering and science in a global society. The center's members lead by example, motivating students by setting a goal, then engaging and empowering them to reach it.
The Center for Water Resources Management addresses problems created by a lack of clean and sustainable water and energy for nations and communities in need. Globally, sustainability is a responsibility shared by all nations. Engineering and computer science students need to be part of this collective responsibility. Locally, we must educate a new generation of engineers ready to meet our national needs.
The Research Experience for Undergraduates program will provide opportunities for 10 motivated and talented undergraduate students to collaborate with NYIT faculty and graduate students in research on methods of securing smartphones and their networks using both hardware and software approaches.
