Mission

The mission of OSPAR is to assist faculty and administration in obtaining external funding for the advancement of scholarship and research, institutional development, and student services. Toward this end, OSPAR: 1) provides services and resources for identifying funding sources; 2) advises on and facilitates preparation of grant proposals; 3) collaborates with administration and faculty to promote interdisciplinary teams; and 4) works with sponsor agencies and NYIT post-award offices to manage grant funds. NYIT Establishes New Grants Program for its Global Faculty
Full-time faculty at NYIT’s global sites are invited to apply for Global Faculty Summer Research and Creativity (GFSRC) Grants, in the $1,000-$3,000 range, for support of faculty research, scholarship, and creative activity, or for specific innovative use of technology to improve teaching and learning, during the 2009 summer term.  The deadline for receipt of applications is May 10, 2009.  Please see the guidelines and application form for further information.

Faculty Scholars Honored at Eighth Annual Faculty Scholars Reception
Congratulations to the 100 NYIT faculty and staff members honored for their scholarly and creative accomplishments on February 26, 2009. This year's celebration--the largest such event in NYIT history--honored full-time, as well as adjunct, faculty, and staff members who have received an external grant, published or edited a book or journal, published original research in a nationally recognized peer-reviewed journal or in a book, produced a major creative work, obtained a patent, or received a prize or an award from an outside organization honoring creative activity or scholarly attainment during the 2008 calendar year. Dr. Claude Gagna, Associate Professor of Life Sciences at the New York Institute of Technology, has been named a winner of the fourth annual Nanotech Briefs Nano 50 Awards competition in the Technology category, in recognition of his development of a novel DNA microarray. As stated in the July 3, 2008 award citation, "The winners of the Nano 50 awards are the 'best of the best' - the innovative people and designs that will move nanotechnology to key mainstream markets."
