Download the DVD order form and follow the instructions for ordering copies of the main commencement ceremony and/or your school commencement ceremony. Academic Regalia (Cap and Gown)
All participating graduates must wear academic regalia (cap and gown).
Regalia may be purchased on the day you pick up your tickets or during the entire month of May at the NYIT Bookstore located at Salten Hall in Old Westbury or the Student Activities Center in Manhattan. (Prices below include sales tax.)
- Associate's degree: (cap, gown, hood, tassel, and custom stole of gratitude) $69.45
- Bachelor's degree: (cap, gown, hood, tassel, and custom stole of gratitude) $71.63
- Master's degree: (cap, gown, hood, tassel, and custom stole of gratitude) $77.06
- Doctoral degree: (cap, gown, hood, tassel, and custom stole of gratitude) $93.35
Graduating With Honors
Students graduating cum laude, magnum cum laude, or summa cum laude are asked to rise as a group during the main ceremony to be recognized. There is no additional regalia for honor students.
Golden Key International Honour Society
Golden Key International Honour Society members wear a golden rope at commencement. Members can receive the rope at the same time they pick up their tickets. Only students who join this society are eligible.
Senior Portraits
Manhattan Campus Students:
If you had your senior portrait taken in Manhattan during the week of March 24 and require information, please call Thornton Studio at 212.647.1966.
If you are a Manhattan student and want to take a senior portrait, please call Thornton Studio to schedule an appointment at 212.647.1966 and mention that you are an NYIT student. For more information, please contact Dennis Camacho, Director of Student Activities at 212.261.1686.
Old Westbury Students:
If you are an Old Westbury student and you are picking up your tickets on May 6, a photographer will be on site to take your senior portrait, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. If you want to go to the photographers studio to take your photo, please call Island Photography at 516.767.1234 and mention that you are an NYIT student. All Students – Commencement Day
Island Photography will be on site taking your photo in your cap and gown during line-up in the morning as well as taking your photo when you receive your diploma. Approximately three weeks after graduation, they will contact you for looking at the proofs and ordering your photos.
