Frequently Asked Questions About NYIT Commencement
1. What is the date of commencement?
Commencement will be held on Sunday, May 18, 2008, at 9:30 a.m.
2. Where is commencement held?
Commencement takes place outdoors under tents at NYIT’s Old Westbury campus (directions).
3. What are the start and end times of commencement?
The procession for the main commencement starts promptly at 9:30 a.m. All graduates proceed from President’s Stadium to the main tent. The main commencement concludes at 11:30 a.m. All graduates will then proceed to individual school commencements, which begin at noon and run until about 2 p.m. The diploma ceremony takes place at the school commencements.
4. Upon arrival to campus, where do I go?
All graduates should proceed directly to President’s Stadium for lineup. Please come dressed in your robes. Guests should proceed directly to the main commencement tent. Tickets will be required to gain admittance.
5. Will my guests require a ticket for commencement?
Admission to the campus for commencement is by ticket only. Each person attending will be counted as a ticket, including children (infants who sit on a parent’s lap will not require a ticket). Tickets must be presented to gain admittance. A ticket will grant the ticket holder access to the main ceremony and the school recognition ceremony. Because of limited seating, each graduate receives a maximum of four tickets. Additional tickets are not available. The graduating student does not require a ticket. 6. How can I get more tickets?

7. How do I get academic regalia (cap and gown)?
All participating graduates must wear academic regalia. Regalia may be purchased during the month of May. See the regalia (cap and gown) page for all details.
