Meal Plans

Old Westbury campus

The meal plan, which is required, for those living in NYIT’s Housing at Old Westbury is a combination of an NYIT academic meal plan and a residential facility meal plan. Each student will receive a card with a value of $850 to use in any NYIT dining facility. If you do not use all the money on the card by the end of the semester, the money will not roll over.

Residential students also receive a choice of SUNY meal plans:
Option 1: 10 meals and $400 dining per semester
Option 2: 14 meals and $350 dining dollars per semester
Option 3: 19 meals and $300 dining dollars per semester

The meals must be eaten in the main SUNY Old Westbury cafeteria. The dining dollars may be used in all SUNY dining facilities. SUNY dollars remaining at the end of the fall semester are rolled over to the spring semester and can be used over intersession. However, if you do not use your SUNY dollars by the conclusion of the spring semester, you will lose them.

If you wish to invite a guest to eat with you in either the NYIT or SUNY dining facilities, you may use your declining dollars to pay for your guest. However, you may not use two of your meals at once.

Manhattan campus

The Manhattan campus does not have a meal plan. Students have access to kitchens in the residence halls, which are equipped with stoves and ovens. In addition, students are permitted to have small refrigerators and microwaves in their rooms. There are many restaurants and grocery stores close to the residence halls, and the grab-and-go cafe in the Student Activities Building offers sandwiches, snacks, and beverages.
