The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is one of the most important documents you’ll need to fill out in order to ensure the best financial aid package possible. All American students are encouraged to submit this free application, which is used to determine eligibility for grants, loans, and work-study opportunities.
The FAFSA requires renewal every year, so be sure to mark your calendars each January throughout your college career. The deadline is June 30 for federal aid and May 1 for state aid, but the recommended filing dates are between January 1 and February 14.
Online is the most efficient way to file the FAFSA. Go to www.fafsa.ed.gov to access the application, and simply register, then follow the step-by step instructions on each page. Click “continue” to proceed after every series of questions, and your answers will be saved to your log-in account.
You'll need certain information, like NYIT’s school code: 002782.
