Parents FAQs

Your child’s decision about where to attend college is perhaps the most important decision of his or her life up to this point. Naturally, you want to be as informed as possible so you can offer guidance and support during this exciting but stressful time. The following are some of the questions we’re asked most often by the parents of prospective students. Take a look, and if you still need more information, please don’t hesitate to contact us. Contact an admissions counselor at 800.345.NYIT or e-mail us.

What are NYIT's admissions deadlines?
At NYIT, we use a rolling admissions process and make admissions decisions as soon as we receive applications--right up to the beginning of a semester. There is no deadline date, although we encourage students to apply early. Some of NYIT's more competitive programs fill up quickly, and students who file late applications may not be able to get into the classes they need.

Does NYIT have student housing?

NYIT provides residential halls at both our Old Westbury and Manhattan campuses. Full-time undergraduate and graduate students are eligible for housing.

OLD WESTBURY: Students who plan to take courses at the Old Westbury campus are encouraged and invited to live in the residence halls. All accommodations are suite style. A typical suite has two single rooms, two double rooms, a shared bathroom, and a small common area. Throughout the campus there are suites designated for graduate students. For more information, visit NYIT's Office of Housing and Residential Life.

MANHATTAN: For students planning to attend classes in Manhattan, NYIT offers two full-service residence halls. One is located on the Upper West Side, just a quick subway, bus, or bicycle ride from the Manhattan campus. The Riverside Terrace Residence Hall, at 350 W. 88th St., offers single and double rooms in a facility supervised by the full-time, professionally trained staff of the Office of Residential Services, as well as resident advisors and peer mentors.
