I am an international student with a three-year undergraduate degree. Can I apply to NYIT's graduat

Applicants for admission into the MBA program who have completed only a three-year (or more) degree-bearing post-secondary program which IS equivalent to a US bachelor’s degree may apply directly for admission into the MBA program.

However, NYIT has a Bridge Program, designed to assist international graduate students who have NOT attained the equivalent of a four-year baccalaureate degree in the United States. The program requires that students complete additional credits. Applications from international students who have completed a three-year post-secondary program, (equivalent to three years of undergraduate study in the United States) or a four-year program that is NOT equivalent to an American bachelor’s degree will be considered with the following additional provisions:

1. The student may be required to take an NYIT English placement examination.
2. Each student must complete a minimum of 30 additional undergraduate/graduate credits with a grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.0. A substantial number of these credits may be in English as a second language (ESL) courses, depending upon the results of the proficiency examination.
3. Upon satisfactory completion of these 30 credits, the student will be granted provisional status in the chosen graduate program and expected to meet all requirements of this status, which includes the achievement of at least a 3.0 GPA through the first 12 graduate credits.
4. All Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) applicants are required to take the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) and submit scores before a decision on acceptance can be made. A minimum GMAT score of 400 is required for admission to the M.B.A. program. Applicants to all other programs may, at the discretion of the program director, be required to take the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) during the first year of study at NYIT and achieve a minimum standard.

All prospective students must first apply directly to NYIT using the general application, specifying the graduate program of choice. The Office of Graduate Admissions will determine eligibility for the Bridge Program.  In addition to the application and supporting academic documents, all international students whose first language is not English must take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) exam and submit official scores to the Office of Admissions. If you received your baccalaureate degree in the United States and can provide proof of your U.S. degree, or if you have already successfully completed English Composition at another institution, then the TOEFL or the IELTS are not required. If, however, you received your undergraduate degree from a foreign university, or if you have not completed English Composition, you are required to take the TOEFL or IELTS exam.

TOEFL: A written-based score of 550, a computer-based score of 213, or an Internet-based score of 79/80 is required for full admission. If you score 500-549 on the written, 173-212 on the computerized, or 61-79/80 on the Internet-based, you may be required to study English as a Second Language before you can be fully matriculated into your academic program of choice. If you score below 500, 173 or 61, you may apply only to our English Language Institute (ELI) for additional instruction in English. 

IELTS: A test score on the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) of 6 is required for full admission. If you score below a 6 but above a 5, you may be required to study English as a second language before you can be fully matriculated into your academic program of choice. If you score below a 5, you may apply to NYIT's English Language Institute for additional instruction in English. You may also retake the IELTS.
