Do you offer graduate programs in teacher education?

NYIT offers a Master of Science in Childhood Education program, which prepares candidates to teach all children including those of diverse backgrounds. The course of study emphasizes curriculum development for classrooms that include students from diverse backgrounds, multiculturalism, teaching for equity and social justice, and the use of instructional technology to enhance teaching and learning. It has received an award of National Recognition by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education for the rigorous implementation of the Association of Childhood Education International's standards for preparing elementary teachers.

The graduate program is designed for applicants with a bachelor degree and little or no teaching experience or preparation who are seeking certification at the elementary level, grades 1-6. The program includes opportunities for candidates to participate in supervised school experiences and a professional student-teaching sequence. Students may complete the program on a full-time or part-time basis, enrolling in online and/or face-to-face courses. They have the option to complete the program with an accelerated schedule (an academic year, plus preceding and following summer sessions) or to extend their program over two to five years.
