Toure scores two goals to led men’s soccer past West Chester
Old Westbury, N.Y. (Oct. 25, 2009) – The NYIT men’s soccer team defeated visiting West Chester University by the score of 2-1, this afternoon in non-conference action. With the victory NYIT improves to 8-8 overall, while West Chester falls to 3-9-2 overall.
The Bear’s jumped out to a 1-0 lead just five minutes into the game, when sophomore Farah Toure (Prince George, Md.) scored on a cross by Mitchell Day (Isle of Wight, England). NYIT dominated ball possession in the first half, taking ten shots and six corner kicks.
Even though NYIT continued to control play in the second half, West Chester was able to score a goal at the 57:54 mark of the second half to tie the score at 1-1. However, nine minutes later Toure was fouled in the box and was awarded a penalty kick. Toure converted the penalty kick to clinch the victory for the Bears.
On Wednesday Oct. 28 men’s soccer will host Molloy College at President’s Stadium for Senior Day. Game is schedule to start at 3 p.m.
