Old Westbury, N.Y. (May 2, 2009) - The 2009 East Coast Conference championship today between No.3 C.W. Post and No.4 NYIT has been rained out and cannot be made up. By conference rule, C.W. Post is declared the champion, as they were the highest seed to remain undefeated through the tournament. The Bears, who advanced to the championship game by going 3-1 in the tournament, were declared the tournament's runners up. 

NYIT, who was ranked 10th in the NCAA's northeast region this past wek, will have to wait until tonight to see if they were selected to participate in the NCAA northeast regional, which begins on Thursday. The Bears advanced to their first ever NCAA tournament in 2008. NYIT conlcudes the 2009 regular season with a record 37 wins.
