Volleyball sweeps Queens and moves into third place in ECC standings

Flushing, N.Y. (Nov. 3, 2009) - Senior Shelby Klien (Orange, Cal.) paced the NYIT women's volleyball team with 10 kills and a match-high 16 digs as the Bears swept Queens 3-0 this evening in East Coast Conference action. With the victory the Bears improve to 12-18 overall and 6-5 in the conference, and take over third place in the conference standings. The Bears can clinch the third seed in the ECC tournament with a win over Molloy on Thursday and a C.W. Post loss to Bridgeport.

The Bears led 23-22 in the first set before registering the final two points to win 25-22. NYIT then took the next two sets by identical 25-20 scores to win the match.

Sophomore Emily Syers (East Meadow, NY) recorded a match-high 27 assists in the win.

The Bears close out the 2009 ECC portion of their schedule as they host Molloy College on Thursday at 7 p.m.
