Women's soccer drops 5-2 decision at Queens

Flushing, N.Y. (Oct. 24, 2009) - The NYIT women's soccer team lost at Queens College 5-2 this afternoon in East Coast Conference action.  The loss drops the Bears to 4-10 overall and 2-4 in the ECC.

Sophomore Meghan Emanuelo (Deer Park, N.Y.) gave the Bears a 1-0 lead 21:21 into the contest as she converted on a penalty kick. This goal was the first surrendered by Queens College in 300:05. NYIT's lead lasted exactly seven minutes and 34 seconds at which time freshman Brittany Silipo evened the score with her first of the day.

QC struck again quickly, taking the lead at the 31:41 mark on a blast from 30 yards out by  freshman Kirri Bolton, and increasing their lead to two goals on Silipo's second of the afternoon at 38:48.

The Bears cut QC's margin in half 4:03 after the break when junior Taylor Jensen (East Meadow, N.Y.) took sophomore Ally Halbig's (Babylon, N.Y.) cross and beat Breakey but Silipo completed her hat trick, blasting home the rebound of a Slavin shot in the 61st minute to make it 4-2 QC.

Freshman Sarah Boucher rounded out the scoring in the 81st minute off of an assist from Laura D'Amore to cement a 5-2 QC win.

The Bears return to action this Tuesday at Post University in a non-conference match set to start at 3 p.m.
