Emanuelo scores twice and assists on two scores as women's soccer defeats Nyack 6-1

Old Westbury, N.Y. (Oct. 29, 2009) - NYIT sophomore Megan Emanuelo (Deer Park, N.Y.) scored twice and assisted on two goals to led the women's soccer team past Nyack 6-1 this afternoon in non-conference action. The win improves the Bears to 6-10 on the season, while Nyack falls to 3-11-2.

The Bears jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead, scoring twice in the first five minutes. Senior Katie Hicks (Valley Stream, N.Y.) headed-in a cross from Emanuelo just 1:47 into the conference and sophomore Ally Halbig (East Meadow, N.Y.) followed just before the five minute mark with a blast from 10 yards out off of a feed from Emanuelo. 

Nyack cut the deficit to 2-1 on a goal from Alisha Smith with 19:38 on the clock, but junior Taylor Jensen's goal two minutes before the half started a string of four unanswered scores for the Bears. Emanuelo scored both of her goals in the second half and Halbig added her second of the day as well to make the final 6-1.

The Bears close out the 2009 season at home on Saturday, Oct. 31 as they host Molloy College at Noon. NYIT will honor it's three seniors, Katie Hicks, Meghan Sguigna and Mona Lekaj.
