Graduation 2017: What You Need to Know

February 22, 2017

“Before the merriment of commencement commences,” as Principal McGee so eloquently stated in the 1978 movie Grease, there are many details that students need to take care of before graduation day. Here are some important things to remember.

Graduation To Do’s:

Reserve Tickets: Graduation is scheduled for Sunday, May 21. Each graduating student can reserve up to four tickets for the ceremony. Tickets must be ordered by April 28. Order tickets at my.nyit.edu.

Student Speaker Contest: Here is your opportunity to address your fellow graduates. NYIT is looking for an outstanding student speaker who can represent the NYIT student experiences. This is a great honor and an opportunity to share your story. Applications are due March 3.

National Anthem Singer Contest: Are you interested in singing the national anthem at commencement? Email commencement@nyit.edu with your name and contact information. The Office of Event Planning and Hospitality will contact you to schedule an audition. Auditions are scheduled to take place in March. The deadline for submissions is 5 p.m. on March 3.

Academic Regalia: All graduates are required to wear academic regalia (cap and gown). Orders must be placed before March 31. Caps and gowns will be distributed at the bookstores in NYIT-Long Island and NYIT-New York City beginning May 1.
