Counseling and Wellness Education

NYIT’s Counseling and Wellness Centers offer short-term counseling to NYIT students who may be experiencing personal, social, or academic concerns. Professional counselors assist students in developing greater self-understanding as well as strategies for effective problem solving to enhance personal development and academic success.

The centers provide a holistic approach to wellness education, promoting individual and comunity wellness through programs and outreach activities. We offer workshops, lectures, and student leadership training throughout the semester.

Dimensions of wellness include emotional, intellectual, physical, social, spiritual, and vocational well-being. Our resource libraries contain health and wellness fact sheets, pamphlets, books, and videos. A variety of programs are offered for students on topics such as:

  • Managing stress
  • Healthy eating habits
  • Coping without alcohol and other drugs
  • Resolving conflicts
  • Developing healthy relationships
  • Assertiveness training
  • Improving your self-image
  • Grief and loss
