Essay Contest

All current international students are encouraged to enter our first essay contest entitled: No Ordinary Journey. Please submit your story about your personal journey in adjusting to life in a new country, culture, and environment. All essays should be no more than 1,000 words and submitted no later than Oct. 15, 2009, to oie@nyit.edu. First, second, and third place prizes will be awarded during International Education Week, which will take place Nov. 16 - 20. The winners will be announced at a luncheon held that week.

Permission Notice: All or parts of winning and selected non-winning essays might be published on the OIE website or in a booklet to be distributed at orientation. By submitting your essay, you agree that your entry can be used in this way.

Michigan State University held a similar contest in 2006 and this essay written by Ting Hong, a student at that university, was one of the winning essays.

Monthly Coffee Hour

Our office will be hosting a coffee hour -- 6 - 7 p.m. on the last Tuesday of every month. Please join us for coffee and conversation in our new office located in Harry Schure Hall, room 207. The first monthly coffee hour was on Sept. 29. The next coffee hour will be on Tuesday, Oct. 27, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m..
