Filing for Graduation With the Office of the Registrar

 

All candidates for graduation must complete an online application via the "Application for Graduation" link on NYITConnect at the beginning of their final semesters.  The deadlines are as follows:

May 2009 Graduation:       April 3, 2009

August 2009 Graduation:  July 10, 2009

Ellis College Students:

Ellis College Students follow a different process.  Please contact your Academic Advisor for further information.

Getting Your Diploma:

If you have completed your degree requirements by May 2009, you will be notified by mail and e-mail when your diploma is available. August 2008 and December 2008 graduates who have not received their diplomas should follow the instructions outlined below.

Diplomas can be picked up at the Office of the Registrar at your home campus. You will be required to show photo ID to receive your diploma. If you send a designee, he or she must have a diploma pick-up form authorizing NYIT to release the diploma. Download the diploma pick-up form (PDF). The designee must also have a photo ID.

Your diploma can also be mailed to you. Download and complete the diploma request form (PDF). Send it to the Office of the Registrar at the address noted on the form. There is a $30 fee for diplomas mailed to U.S. and international addresses.

Ellis Students


Ellis College candidates for graduation must apply by submitting the Intent to Graduate (ITG) form to their advisor at the beginning of their final term.  If you intend to participate in the graduation ceremonies, please be sure to submit the ITG form by April 3rd even if you will have courses remaining after this date.

Notification of Graduation Eligibility
After your graduation request is processed, you will receive a letter from the Office of the Registrar detailing the status of your graduation application. Your status may be:

Approved: All requirements have been successfully completed
Approved Pending: With the successful completion of the current semester’s coursework, you will be eligible to graduate
Denied: You have not successfully completed one or more of the requirements for graduation and you are not eligible to graduate at this time; contact your advisor or department office for information 


Ellis College Students - Getting Your Diploma:
You will not receive your diploma at commencement. Diplomas are usually mailed out four months after the student’s date of graduation. Diplomas will be mailed to you at the address specified on your Intent to Graduate form.
