A team of students participated in NYIT's second Alternative Spring Break Project, March 17-25 in Independencia, Peru. During the service trip, they continued the water purification initiatives begun on the first Alternative Spring Break Project in 2011, helped to build a pharmacy, and volunteered at an orphanage. Commencement Tickets Each graduate may receive up to four tickets. Purple Palooza Challenge Compete for prizes to support NYIT's Relay for Life on Tuesday, April 17, 12:30-1:50 p.m. at the Student Activities Center field. There are three ways to play:
- Grab a friend and sign up for $5 each.
- Sign up and get a partner on the event day.
- Get someone to sponsor you and your partner. Raise the most money through sponsors and win a prize.

NYIT's Relay for Life will take place on Friday, April 20 at 7 p.m. to Saturday, April 21 at 7 a.m. in President's Stadium, Old Westbury campus.
Show your flair for creativity by entering the Arizona Beverages 20th Anniversary Contest. Design and submit a label for an Arizona flavor from Tuesday, May 1 to Friday, June 29. The winning design will be featured nationwide, and the designer will receive a year's supply of Arizona beverages. Read more.
Improve the lives of people in Ghana—all you have to do is ice-skate today, 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Port Washington Skating Center, 70 Seaview Blvd., Port Washington, N.Y. NYIT students and staff from the Office of International Education raised multicultural awareness on a March 22 visit to a kindergarten class at Briarcliff Elementary School in Shoreham-Wading River, N.Y. Students represented their native countries—Abishek Dileep Kumar (India), Samprada Shrestha (Nepal), and Ab Zemirline (Island of Comoros)—and wore cultural dress, sang, danced, and read poetry. The 20 kindergarteners prepared for the visit by creating “passports,” which were stamped with each NYIT student's name and country.
