Driving fast sports cars is only a dream for many, but it's all in a day's work for business management student Nabeel "Nomi" Sajid, a sales manager at Jaguar of Great Neck, N.Y. He started selling cars at age 16 and is now the only person at a Jaguar dealership in New York City and Long Island selling the Fisker Karma, a new plug-in hybrid vehicle by the sports car company, Fisker Automotive. NASA Summer Internship: Atmospheric Chemistry Fly onboard a NASA P-3B aircraft and learn about surface, atmospheric, and oceanographic processes during this paid eight-week summer internship in Palmdale, Calif. Juniors, seniors, and early graduate students are invited to apply by Friday, Jan. 20, 2012 for early acceptance. The final application deadline is Friday, Feb. 10. Read more about this internship.
Voice your opinions of social, political, and economic issues on Student Lobby Day on Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2012 in Albany, N.Y. This free trip is open to all students receiving financial aid from the Tuition Assistance Program (TAP). A bus will depart from the Manhattan campus at 6 a.m. and return at 6 p.m. the same day. Congratulations to NYIT teams MCD Costa Rica, Duality, and fan favorite Poroso for their winning architectural designs – after thousands of people voted for them on Facebook in an innovative competition hosted by NYIT. Team members will travel to Costa Rica next month to apply their creative designs and skills to develop a recycling and education center in Nosara, a community on the Pacific coast. Follow the teams' progress by becoming a fan of the Nosara Design Build Studio NYIT Facebook page.
In addition, three NYIT architecture students – Vianney Franco, Tania Pinto, and Nadia Naim – from Old Westbury have won a community design competition for their project, "A Lifeline for East New York," which features a network of health facilities and a bike path through the high-poverty Brooklyn neighborhood. NYIT's Chi Alpha Epsilon (XAE) honor society and members of the Community Service Center (CSC) motivated peers to clean out their closets and donate clothes and coats to those in need. They donated all items collected during their successful coat/clothing drive to the Bowery Mission in New York City. Read more.

Covenant House Toy Drive NYIT's Society of Hosteurs is collecting new toys for children ranging from infants to age seven through Friday, Dec. 16. Drop off unwrapped toys to 26 W. 61st St., rooms 508 and 511, Manhattan campus.
Coat Drive The Office of Housing and Residential Life in Manhattan is collecting new and gently used coats through Thursday, Dec. 22 as part of the 23rd Annual New York Cares Coat Drive. Drop off coats at 26 W. 61st St., room 108. For more information, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
NYIT nursing students and faculty members attended a Dec. 8 forum on global nursing and health issues at the United Nations in New York City. The day's activities included a tour and delegate briefing of U.N. millennial developmental goals, and a meeting about national health issues at the U.S. Mission.
