When Ejaz Janjua entered NYIT's B.S./D.O. program in 2005, he knew the seven-year accelerated program would be his greatest challenge. Now, with a few months left until graduation in May 2012, his conviction to pursue a medical degree is paying off. Read more.

If you are a member of the Class of 2012 who has captured unique NYIT memories with your camera or smartphone, share them for a photo montage on commencement day. Zumba to Support Alternative Spring Break

Do Zumba on Sunday, March 4 to support students headed to Peru, March 17-25 for NYIT's 2012 Alternative Spring Break Project. The class will take place 11 a.m.-noon at Ella Marie Dance Studio, 376 W. Old Country Road, Hicksville, N.Y. The cost is $12, and proceeds will help to fund students' travel costs. To sign up, call Theresa Piccolo at 215.285.8048 or email tpiccolo@nyit.edu.

Refund Disbursements Available for Students via Direct Deposit

Students can now receive their refund disbursements via direct deposit to established checking and savings accounts (U.S. banks only), in addition to current debit card and paper check options. For more information, call the Office of the Bursar at 516.686.7510. Enroll in the new online refund process.

Congrats to NYIT-Amman M.B.A. Student Winners 

NYIT-Amman students

M.B.A. students at NYIT-Amman have won the 2012 CFA Institute Research Challenge hosted by CFA Jordan. The competition was designed to test their knowledge of equity research, valuation, and ethics. Read more.

NYIT Student Designers Selected for Milan Furniture Fair

A team of nine students, alumni, and faculty members representing NYIT’s School of Architecture and Design has been invited to the SaloneSatellite exhibition, one of the world’s most exclusive design and furniture fairs. The event will take place on April 17-20 in Milan, Italy. The NYIT team is one of only a few schools selected to show its work, including a prototype chaise lounge designed by senior Barbara Schoenenberger and a multi-screen video display highlighting the school's achievements. Students Lobby for Education in Albany

NYIT students joined 900 peers from more than 60 independent colleges and universities in New York state on Feb. 7 in Albany, N.Y., for the Commission of Independent Colleges and Universities' annual Student Lobby Day. Participants attended 13 advocacy seminars and met with elected officials to discuss funding for the Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) and Arthur O. Eve Higher Education Opportunity Program (HEOP).

Yoga Classes Do yoga at the Old Westbury campus every first and third Tuesday of the month at 12:30 p.m. in the Occupational Therapy Lab, 500 Building, room 511. Leap Year Birthday Celebration If you have a leap year birthday, know someone who does, or just want some free goodies, stop by the NYIT special events class on Wednesday, Feb. 29, 8-10:30 a.m. at the NYIT Auditorium on Broadway, Manhattan campus. Leap Day Pancake Supper Join the Campus Programming Board at NYIT-Old Westbury on Wednesday, Feb. 29, 6 p.m. in the SUNY-Old Westbury Residence Halls, King Storefront.

Free Flick This semester, the theme of Wednesday night free flicks is "dangerous women and their endangered men." View Rain, starring Joan Crawford, on Wednesday, Feb. 29 at 5:30 p.m. in the NYIT de Seversky Mansion (The Soundstage, room 102). Refreshments will be served.

March Madness - NYIT Annual Fund Let your school pride show, have some food and fun, and support the NYIT Annual Fund at March Madness on Friday, March 16, noon-3 p.m., Sports Complex Gym, Old Westbury. Watch your friends compete in March Madness and enjoy gummy bears, free NYIT t-shirts, and the opportunity to win an iPod shuffle. Every Annual Fund dollar raised makes an important and immediate difference supporting scholarships, student programs, and technology upgrades. Calling All Student Filmmakers - Longing and Inhibition in Film If you're a student filmmaker at any of NYIT's campuses, take advantage of an opportunity to submit a short film for the NYIT-NUPT Student Film Festival and International Symposium, April 21-22 in Nanjing China. Submissions should explore the event's theme, "Longing and Inhibition in Film." For more information, email Film Festival Chair Kim Bigelow at kim_bigelow@hotmail.com or visit the festival website.
