This program is designed to assist military personnel separating from service in the pursuit of a second career as a public school teacher. In providing public school districts the opportunity to engage and benefit from the skills, education and experience of a pool of mature, motivated, experienced and dedicated personnel, TTT also assists military personnel and others seeking careers in public education in their efforts to attain an appropriate New York State teaching certificate and employment in public schools throughout New York.

New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) offers a program leading to a master's degree in Childhood Education. It is nationally recognized program leading to a Master of Science in Childhood Education to prepare candidates to teach in grades 1 through 6. Please see the Childhood Education page for more information about that program.
Troops to Teachers is a joint U.S. Department of Education and Department of Defense program that helps eligible military personnel begin a new career in teaching at public schools, where their skills, knowledge, and experience are most needed.
