With seed funding from the New York State Empire State Development (ESD), and additional federal funding from the U.S. Department of Commerce Economic Development Agency (EDA), New York Institute of Technology is renovating a facility of its Old Westbury campus to house the new Entrepreneurship and Technology Innovation Center (ETIC), offering virtual connectivity to the NYIT-Manhattan campus.
In fall 2014, NYIT will unveil the new facility in Harry Schure Hall that will feature state-of-the-art laboratories, classrooms, an auditorium, and collaborative open space.
A new, smart auditorium is part of the ETIC project, scheduled to be unveiled in fall 2014.
An open space in the ETIC lobby will offer a comfortable, collaborative gathering and study space.

Three fully operational testing and research areas aligned with the areas that exhibit the highest growth on Long Island, as identified by the “Accelerate Long Island” initiative. The three areas draw on NYIT’s unique research and curricular strengths and on the combined interdisciplinary expertise of its highly regarded faculty in the engineering, medicine, science, architecture, and health professions disciplines on:
- IT & Cybersecurity
- Bioengineering & Health Analytic
- Energy & Green Technologies
- Company hoteling, with private areas for up to 10-12 companies at any one time
- Industry-academic working spaces, with additional partnerships
- Conference and training rooms
- Dedicated data center
