Biography
Peter Douris, PT, DPT, Ed.D., was the founding chair of the Physical Therapy Department at NYIT in 1996.
He has clinical experience in acute care, rehabilitation, home care, and private practice. He has also taught at Hunter College, Long Island University, and Touro College.
His current projects include the comparison of Wii Fit and treadmill running and the effects of laser and ice on delayed onset of muscle soreness. He is also working on the effect of phototherapy on muscle endurance.
Douris earned his doctor of physical therapy degree from NYIT. He graduated from Columbia University three times with an Ed.D. and M.Ed. in applied physiology, and a master’s degree in physical therapy. He also received his bachelor’s degree in physical education from Hunter College.
