"No Ordinary Journey ..." A Personal Essay

The Office of International Education is happy to announce the winners of our fifth annual essay contest, "No Ordinary Journey," which was open to all international students.
The essay is a celebration of students and their personal journeys and experiences in adjusting to the ways of a culture different than their own. Students were invited to share their true stories regarding situations and adjustments to a new environment, as well as moments of personal growth and understanding of 'local ways.'

Thanks to all the students who submitted their essays. 

The winners for 2012 are:

• First Place: Thulani Ngazimbi from Zimbabwe
   
• Second Place: Smita Paraswale from India
   
• Third Place: Xinlu 'Chrissy' Chen from China

All students who submitted an essay were celebrated at a luncheon held in their honor on Friday, April 5, 2013. The contest will open again in October 2013.
