GreenBuilding SuiteBuildingGreen Suite offers well-researched, clearly written articles on sustainable design strategies, succinct listings of carefully selected green building products and in-depth case studies of high performance buildings.

  • Environmental Building News: A trusted source of information on sustainable building design and construction since 1992
  • GreenSpec® Directory: A comprehensive guide to environmentally responsible building products
  • Case Study database: Over 250 case studies of high performance buildings with information on land use, site/water, materials, energy, indoor environment, etc.

To learn the basics of what BuildingGreen Suite has to offer watch the introductory video on the home page. For articles that might be relevant to current courses scan the syllabus supplements. Note that there are discussion questions following all 2011-13 feature articles for in-class dialog or essay prompts.

BuildingGreen Syllabus Supplements: These three syllabus supplements will help you find relevant content quickly on the BuildingGreen website: 

  • Introduction to Sustainable Design - The articles listed in this syllabus supplement will provide context for the green building movement and help students understand the breadth and interconnectedness of this wide-ranging field of study.
  • Green Materials - The articles listed in this syllabus supplement will provide students with an in-depth understanding of green building materials including both the context for what makes a product green and specifics related to different categories of products and materials.
  • LEED Rating System - The articles listed in this syllabus supplement will help students understand the different LEED rating systems, how LEED certification works and who the major organizations are in relation to LEED. They will see the wider context of the green building movement, and where LEED fits in with addressing major issues in the environmental and energy performance of the built environment.
