More than 300 participants rallied to raise $35,000 for Relay for Life, April 20-21, at NYIT-Old Westbury. The event, now in its fourth year and held in conjunction with the American Cancer Society, was organized by Michael Scarpa-Burnett, associate dean of student services; students Paolo Pironi and Mariel Liboreiro; five-year cancer survivor Laurie Hollister, associate director of student development; and Dina Karafantis, assistant professor of psychology.
In addition to the overnight relay at President’s Stadium, the event included a survivors dinner, lighting ceremony, laser tag, karaoke, basketball foul-shot contests, and water balloon races.
