Johnson Financial Challenge

The Johnson Financial Group of Northwestern Mutual is pleased to offer this unique and challenging learning opportunity in financial literacy, specifically designed to help local college students acquire basic financial knowledge and plan for a better future.
 
In this competition students will have the chance to show their talent by creating a  roadmap to help address personal and business financial goals for a sample family.  

PRIZES
First Place:  $1000 Apple gift card
Second Place:  $500 Apple gift card
Third Place:  $250 Apple gift card  

Project Summary
•Open to Junior and Senior level students 
•Competitors are eligible to receive hands on training and access to networking opportunities.   
•A selected group of finalists will have the chance to reveal their project to a panel of local business leaders.  
•Winners will have the chance to apply for  career opportunity as a financial representative intern with the Johnson Financial Group.
•The top ten juniors will have the opportunity to apply to join our internship program.  
•The top three seniors will have the opportunity apply to fill a role as a financial representative and participate in our training curriculum.

RULES
•This is an individual project
•Only one project per person may be submitted
•Competitors will not seek help from anyone
•Competitors will properly identify sources they used for research
•Competitors must attend every event
•Everyone who competes and abides by the rules of the competition will receive a final round interview.

Competition Details
Round One: 

  • Project Submittal and evaluation of the case: Submitted project should clearly address and prioritize the needs and objectives for the sample family.  You should describe all viable solutions, identify possible variables and support your reasoning, in language appropriate for the recipients—the Feldman’s.  Be as detailed as you feel is necessary.
  • All Competitors whose project submittals are accepted will receive a certificate of appreciation.  Following project submission, the finalists from the college will be selected.    

 
Round Two (for those Competitors selected to participate)

  • Training seminar at Northwetsren Mutual: This will provide you with some basic financial roadmap development knowledge, discuss different financial products, and provide suggestions for improving your roadmap for the purpose of helping you prepare for your final presentation.  
  • On the same day, Finalists will take part in a photo shoot, meet our team and have an opportunity to discuss careers in financial services. 

Finalist Presentation:

  • Finalists will return to our office to present their case analysis to a panel of judges.  Finalists will have 30 minutes to present, and then respond to questions from the judges.  The Judges will be business owners, professionals, and community leaders from diverse backgrounds.    

Award Ceremony:

  • Finalists will then be invited to attend a networking reception and award ceremony.  Everyone will be honored and receive a Certificate of Excellence.  Winners will be announced. This will be a networking event and a chance to meet business leaders in our community.

Judging Criteria
You will be judged based on your analytical skills, roadmap building skills, ability to explain your solutions, and your presentation skills.
