The Finance Club at NYIT is designed to help students prepare for future careers in finance and the financial services industry. Students are offered opportunities to demonstrate their leadership and organizational skills. The Finance Club allows students to not only meet people, but to develop their personality and communication skills as well. As the finance profession continues to expand globally, students who are members of the Finance Club have the opportunity to interact with fellow members from different cultures and countries.
The Finance Club’s activities include speaker programs, field trips, professional enrichment and student advancement activities geared towards finance and opportunities to network with financial professionals, including NYIT alumni. A key activity of the Finance Club is the opportunity to participate in the Stock Market Game, in which students have the opportunity to individually invest $100,000 in “make-believe” money in a stock portfolio and manage that portfolio over the course of an academic year. Students will be able to compare their portfolio performance and risk parameters with the portfolios of other Finance Club members and students at other New York metropolitan colleges and universities.
