Multi-platform mentoring opportunities provides significant opportunities for students to learn and speak with professionals in their area of study.
The School of Management supports three platforms to facilitate students receiving mentoring:
Business Leader-to-Student: Business leaders drawn from alumni, industry partners, and School of Management's Advisory Board are available to meet and speak with our students to add to our continued strengthening of student professional skills. For more information on an assignment to a business leader mentor, please click here.
E-mentoring: This platform utilizes software to establish local and international mentoring relationships across the world. Through this mentoring, experience, students are exposed to the diverse business environment and culture differences requisite to success in a increasingly global market place.
Student-to-Student: Peer student mentoring programs involve upperclassmen serving as role models and mentors to freshmen and sophomores, introducing them to the campus climate and culture, and guiding them through their academic experience. The School of Management Student Ambassadors often serve as mentors to entering freshman and transfer students.
Students who support an NYIT SOM mentoring function are eligible to receive one Student Advancement point per semester. A point will only be earned with written documentation provided in evidence of their mentoring in the form of a written testimonial from a School of Management faculty or staff member. Mentoring must be of significant value, as determined by the respective faculty or staff member.
