Give ‘Em the Business: Resources for Management Students

Student Ambassador Program

A School of Management Student Ambassador is the highest ranking student diplomat representing the School of Management. Ambassadors are student leaders who advance the School of Management by serving as stewards of the school on behalf of the Office of the Dean. Ambassadors also strive to build and reinforce social connections that foster or strengthen the relationships between our students, faculty, staff, and external stakeholder groups. In this way, ambassadors engage in meaningful service and citizenship while enhancing leadership and communication skills.

The mission of the Student Ambassador Program is to:

  • Promote an ethic of service and leadership by representing the School of Management at social, cultural, recruitment and fund raising events;
  • Engage into meaningful service and citizenship; and
  • Serve as public relations advocates for the School of Management.

Sample activities that Students Ambassadors engage into, or coordinate and deliver, are:

  • Dean’s Business Advisory Board Socials, the Annual School of Management Gala,  Commencement, and SOM Student Orientations;
  • Community Fund Raising Events;
  • The annual Stakeholders’ Conference;
  • Professional Enrichment Program activities;
  • Peer Mentoring programs;
  • Posting activities and Building Community utilizing Social Media, including Facebook and Twitter;
  • Profiling their Membership on the Web; and
  • Administering select School of Management Surveys and conducting Research.

Qualifications for membership:

  • School of Management majors who have completed a minimum of fifteen (15) credit hours at NYIT hold a GPA of at least 3.60;
  • Demonstrated leadership through support of a portfolio of activity, subject to the approval of the Dean.

Students selected as Student Ambassadors typically receive one Student Advancement point for their engagement, annually. Engagament must be validated by the Dean of the School of Management.
