NYIT College of Osteopathic Medicine now provides students with Inkling e-textbooks, which include many interactive features that allow students to search the text, share notes, highlight, annotate, watch video, complete self-assessment activities, and join study communities with anywhere anytime availability.
Class of 2016 and 2015 students were provided with the following e-textbooks:
Harrison's Principles of Internal Medicine
Robbins and Cotran: Pathologic Basis of Disease
Bates' Guide to Physical Examination and History Taking
Essential Cell Biology
Benefits of e-textbooks:
These titles are the students' to keep
These titles can be accessed on Web / iPad / iPhone
Students are entitled to version upgrades and updates at no additional cost
All College of Osteopathic Medicine faculty have access to these and other titles from Inkling.
All the clerkship directors at College of Osteopathic Medicine affiliated clinical rotations where our students spend their year were trained in the use of an iPad and provided with these titles.
We expect that the faculty will use these classics as reading assignments for various classes, use them as the major resources as they are, and create a textbook-oriented learning culture at our school.
Such a learning culture will be reinforced, extended, and enhanced by the clerkship directors managing our year 3 clerkships; we will work with the clerkship directors to enable this.
Our thanks to the Acting Dean / Vice President for making this exciting opportunity available to our students.
