NYIT 2006 Gold Coast Classic Event Schedule


Old Westbury, N.Y., March 2, 2006: New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) today announced the schedule for its ninth annual Gold Coast Classic, a fundraising series of exclusive fine food and wine events. Proceeds from the three-day event, which takes place from April 26 - 28, benefit student scholarships and academic programs.

Wednesday, April 26, 6:30 - 9:30 p.m.

NYIT’s beautiful and historic de Seversky Center provides the backdrop for a unique food and wine tasting experience. Enjoy an eclectic array of culinary creations and wines from more than 50 of the best local, national and international restaurants and wineries. Meet with and have books signed by Mireille Guiliano, president of Clicquot, Inc. and author of “French Women Don’t Get Fat” and Geoffrey Zakarian, chef and author of “Town/Country.” General admission tickets are $80; VIP tickets $150 (includes VIP reception with authors and valet parking). NYIT’s de Seversky Center is located on Northern Boulevard in Old Westbury, N.Y.

Winemaker’s/Chef’s Dinner

Thursday, April 27, 6:30 p.m.

This exclusive wine tasting and dinner event will allow guests to get up close and personal with Gold Coast Classic Professional Excellence Award recipients Gina Gallo, Gallo Family Vineyards, and Prince Robert of Luxembourg of Chateau Haut-Brion. Tickets are $500. This event will be hosted at Geoffrey Zakarian’s new restaurant Country, 90 Madison Ave., New York, N.Y.

NYIT/Quarterly Review of Wines Professional Excellence Awards Black-tie Dinner

Friday, April 28, 6:30 p.m.

Each year NYIT and Quarterly Review of Wines honor elite leaders of the food and wine community through its Professional Excellence Awards. This year’s recipients are Gina Gallo of Gallo Family Vineyards, Oenology awardee (Calif.), Prince Robert of Luxembourg of Chateau Haut-Brion, Oenology awardee (France) and Charlie Trotter of Charlie Trotter’s, Culinary awardee. Festivities include dinner and dancing as well as a live and silent auction. Tickets are $350. This black-tie event will be hosted at the Rainbow Room at Rockefeller Center, 30 Rockefeller Plaza, 65th floor, New York, N.Y.
