NYIT Summer English Language Institute for High School Juniors and Seniors: July 7 – Aug. 15, 2008
Old Westbury, N.Y., March 31, 2008: The English Language Institute of New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) announces its summer program for high school juniors and seniors.
Program:
The Summer English Language Institute is a six-week program offered at NYIT’s Old Westbury campus for high school juniors and seniors looking to improve their English language skills, make new friends, and experience all that the metropolitan area has to offer. The program begins Monday, July 7, and ends Friday, Aug. 15, 2008. In addition to academic lessons in reading and writing, the program includes discussions on American culture; a computer club (where students will have access to software to assist them with pronunciation, grammar, math, graphics, photography, writing, and multimedia production); and Café American, where students meet to discuss activities of the previous week, upcoming events, and give presentations. Every Wednesday, students visit off-campus cultural attractions and recreational events, including a baseball game, a Broadway show, a Circle Line cruise, a picnic at Bethpage Restoration Village, a visit to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and an end-of-session party.
Fees:
There is a $50 nonrefundable application fee. Tuition is $2,100 per student, which includes hot and cold buffet lunches four days a week, and two lunches on Wednesdays. Transportation from the campus to all Wednesday attractions is included. (Please Note: Transportation to and from NYIT’s Old Westbury campus is not provided by NYIT; parking is available on campus.)
For more information and/or to request an application, please contact Linda Comac, coordinator of NYIT’s English Language Institute, at 516.686.7686, or by e-mail at lcomac@nyit.edu.
