NYIT Featured on Discovery Channel
Old Westbury, N.Y., April 9, 2009: Professor Peter Voci, chair of New York Institute of Technology's (NYIT) Department of Fine Arts, appeared on an episode of the Discovery Channel's Daily Planet, a television program that covers news, discussion, and commentary on modern science. Filmed at the Fine Arts Motion Capture Lab at NYIT's Old Westbury campus, Voci demonstrated how 3-D motion capture technology works and discussed its applications, which range from video games and movies to healthcare and space exploration. NYIT is using this technology to train the next generation of computer animators, as well as help doctors treat Parkinson's disease and architects and interior designers bring virtual concepts to life. The episode, which first aired on April 8, can now be viewed online on the Discovery Channel.
