NYIT Online is NYIT's new online campus – re-conceptualized and re-organized to enable NYIT to move more rapidly and effectively toward its 2030 goal of becoming "partially virtual" with 20% of students experiencing some form of online instruction each year (vs. 5% at present).

During the 2008-2009 academic year, a Planning Group for NYIT Online (made up of faculty members from all of NYIT's academic schools as well as staff from academic affairs, student affairs, enrollment services, and IT), after reviewing the variety of models, concluded that NYIT's online offerings should be known for:

  • Quality,
  • Currency of the technology,
  • Skills of the faculty, and
  • Interactivity and depth of discourse (and, taking advantage of our unique global footprint, with the option for interaction across global campuses).

NYIT's online offerings – whether in 100% online classes, blended classes, or enhanced courses – must offer students ample opportunities for interaction with faculty, with other students, and with the course material. Support for faculty developing and teaching online should be substantially increased, new models for course development should be tested and used, and all courses should meet exceed quality standards for online higher education.
