Responsibilities
New York Institute of Technology seeks an experienced Director of Business Operations for its communications and marketing team to provide strategic leadership and manage day-to-day operations and back office fulfillment functions for the university’s new world-class boutique event space located in midtown Manhattan. Offering undergraduate, graduate and professional degrees to approximately 15,000 students through seven academic schools, NYIT offers programs at campuses in New York (at Columbus Circle in Manhattan and at Old Westbury on Long Island), at a number of global sites and campuses, and online. NYIT is a leader in developing creative approaches to the technological and global challenges in higher education today. The Director of Business Operation is responsible for soliciting, negotiating, and securing third-party and internal client business and bookings; driving and managing revenue and expenses; developing an out-of-the box marketing strategy, sales kit, and website content to brand and promote the property; creating and implementing policies and procedures inclusive of on-site service manuals; and overseeing operational budgets, contracts and day-to-day operations.
Qualifications
The selected candidate will hold a Bachelor’s degree in hospitality management or a related field and possess a thorough understanding of, and specific experience in sales, marketing and event services. 10+ years of group sales experience, preferably with a hotel or unique venue. Excellent communications and computer skills (MS Suite). The position is based in Manhattan but some travel to the Old Westbury, Long Island campus is required.
