Administrative Assistant

Responsibilities

New York Institute of Technology seeks an Administrative Assistant in the Architecture Department. The assistant will report directly to Chair of the Department, as well the Dean and the Associate Dean, as necessary. The administrative assistant’s responsibilities will be to prepare and handle all faculty and student requests; prepare faculty new hire paperwork; help students apply for externships as well as speak with businesses who wish to post externship opportunities with NYIT. The successful candidate will answer and direct all incoming telephone calls; respond to, maintain and distribute inquiries as well as follow up with student issues; order and manage all office supplies; plan and manage events like lectures, reviews and faculty meetings. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree is required with 2 to 3 years experience working in higher education preferred. Excellent interpersonal, communication and technology (MS Office) skills required. Candidate must have a professional appearance, demeanor and attitude. The ideal candidate must be able to execute the responsibilities of the position with accuracy, attention to detail, ability to handle information with confidentiality and efficiency. Strong organizational skills, detail-oriented, ability to multi-task and prioritize work.
