Responsibilities
New York Institute of Technology seeks a Grants Development Specialist at its Old Westbury, NY campus. The grants specialist will perform funding prospect research using SPIN and other search engines; route funding opportunities to faculty and staff members in their fields; help to prepare, process, assemble and package grant and contract proposals to sponsor agencies; assist with grant-writing and editing; assist in preparing proposal budgets and budget justifications; check proposals for completeness and conformance with institutional, sponsor, and governmental requirements; assist with registration of Principal Investigators in SPIN, NSF FastLane, NIH eRA Commons, and other electronic systems; provide timely assistance with deadlined paper applications and electronic proposal submissions via Grants.gov and other systems; photocopy, mail and hand-deliver grant and contract documents; prepare routine administrative correspondence; provide well-researched and prompt written responses to grant-related inquiries; assist with website maintenance, file management, and the scheduling of work flow; help to manage internally-sponsored programs of grants and fellowships; help with post-award issues and IRB applications; and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree is required; a Master’s degree is preferred. Previous grant-writing and grants administration experience are preferred. Excellent writing and editing skills, as demonstrated by three substantive writing samples; proficiency with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook; superior analytical ability, self-motivation, and organization; a high level of attentiveness to accuracy and detail; an ability to meet deadlines; and a commitment to quality and service, are required.
