As part of NYIT's commitment to sustainability, a new print control system is being implemented in the libraries and computer labs at the Old Westbury and Manhattan campuses. The new system aims to eliminate excess use of paper, toner, and other resources associated with printing from computers on campus.
On the first day of each academic semester (Spring / Fall) students and employees at the Old Westbury or Manhattan campuses will receive an allotment for copying & printing. Anything above that will be the responsibility of the student, payable via FLEX funds. Print control does not apply to the printers in the residence halls or the plotters, generally used by architecture students. Please see the chart below for printing fees:

Printers
When a student initiates a print command, the PC or laptop will ask for his or her myNYIT username and password. The student follows the system prompts and proceeds with the print job, which can be retrieved from the printer when completed. Print jobs remain in the queue for thirty minutes, so if there is a problem with the printout, it can be fixed and the job reprinted or the print job can be routed to another printer.
Copy Machines
For photocopies, the student swipes his/her NYIT ID card through the copier card reader and proceeds with making copies.
Refunds
Refunds in the form of print credits will be applied at the point of service and administered by Library and Academic Computing Staff as well as Service Central Advisors.
