Scholarship Information

Epilepsy:

1) The Epilepsy Foundation of New Jersey has a scholarship program for New Jersey high school seniors who have epilepsy. They anticipate offering four $1,000 scholarships. New Jersey high school seniors with epilepsy who plan to attend a college or university are eligible.

2) Family Epilepsy Scholarship Program

Outstanding accomplishments deserve recognition. The UCB Family Epilepsy Scholarship Program offers financial support to people living with epilepsy, their family members, and/or caregivers who demonstrate academic and personal excellence.

 To apply, you must certify that you are:

-A legal resident of the United States

-A person living with epilepsy or a family member/caregiver of a person living with epilepsy

-Seeking an associate's, undergraduate, or graduate degree or enrolled in a trade school educational program

-A student who demonstrates achievement, possesses a strong record of participation in activities outside of school, and serves as a positive role model

-Graduating from high school in 2013 or have already graduated from high school

-Enrolled in, or awaiting acceptance from, a United States–based center for higher learning for fall semester 2013

Autism Spectrum Disorders:

1) Organization for Autism Research Scholarship Program- Schwallie Family Scholarship

OAR is please to invite applications from persons with an autism diagnosis (DSM-IV or later criteria) pursuing full-time, post-secondary, undergraduate education or vocational-technical training.

Learning Disabilities:

1) Rise Scholarship Foundation

The mission of Rise and its annual scholarships is to reward students with learning disabilities, who have shown determination, self-advocacy and success in overcoming their difficulties and are pursuing post-secondary education.

2) The Allegra Ford Thomas Scholarship

The Allegra Ford Thomas Scholarship is a $2,500 one-time scholarship awarded to a graduating high school senior with a documented learning disability who will be enrolled in a two-year community college, a vocational or technical training program, or a specialized program for students with LD in the fall of 2013.

3.) Youth Achievement Award

This $1,000 award recognizes the strengths and accomplishments of young people with learning disabilities and ADHD. It will be given to a student 19 or younger who has demonstrated initiative, talent and determination resulting in a notable accomplishment in any field—including art, music, science, math, athletics or community service. Honorable Mentions will also be awarded.

4.) Lily Reintegration Scholarship

The Lilly Reintegration Scholarship program is designed to offer financial assistance for a wide range of educational opportunities in which students work to attain a certificate or degree from an accredited institution. Noncredit, online, home study, and distance learning courses are not covered under the scholarship. Also, the program is only open to U.S. citizens who plan to attend classes within the United States. In order to be eligible for consideration for the Lilly Reintegration Scholarship, applicants must:

-Be diagnosed with bipolar, schizophrenia, schizophreniform or schizoaffective disorder

-Be currently receiving medical treatment for the disease, including medications and psychiatric follow-up

-Be actively involved in rehabilitative or reintegrative efforts, such as clubhouse membership, part-time work, volunteer efforts or school enrollment

5.) JCS Scholarship Program- Newhoff Scholarship

The Newhoff Scholarship is designated for Jewish students who have a documented diagnosed learning disability. JCS Scholarships are available to Jewish graduating high school students from the Baltimore Metropolitan Area for assistance in pursuing higher education at an accredited United States College or University.

Diabetes:

1.) Diabetes Scholarship Foundation

The Diabetes Scholars Foundation Scholarship Program is available to incoming freshmen seeking a higher education at an accredited four year university, college, technical or trade school. This scholarship recognizes students who are actively involved in the diabetes community, who have high academic performance, who participate in community and/or extra-curricular activities and who have demonstrated that they are successfully managing the challenges of living with diabetes. Diabetes Scholars Foundation scholarships are not based on financial need.

Tourette’s Syndrome:

1.) New Jersey Center for Tourette’s Syndrome

New Jersey Center for Tourette Syndrome & Associated Disorders, Inc. presents NJCTS Children’s Scholarship awards to resident New Jersey high school seniors (private or public), who are diagnosed with Tourette Syndrome and will be attending a college or trade school in the fall.

Attention Deficit Disorder:

1.) Novotni Scholarship

Each year Attention Deficit Disorder Association (ADDA) awards a number of scholarships ranging from $1,000-$5,000 based on donation funds available to students with ADHD.  They are looking for students who have found ways to meet the challenges of ADHD in order to succeed.

Applicants must…

1.  Be accepted or attending an approved college or university as an undergraduate student.

2.  Have been diagnosed with AD/HD by licensed physician or mental health professional.

3.  Complete the ADDA application for the Novotni College Scholarship Fund.

4.  Submit application for approval no later than March 15.

5.  Includes two reference letters (with contact information) supporting the application for the scholarship from teachers, clergy, physicians, therapists, etc.

6.  Applicants can apply each year for the scholarship.

2.) The Moulton-Farnsworth Scholarship



Each year ADDA will award two scholarships for $1,000 each to students with ADHD.  We are looking for students who have found ways to meet the challenges of ADHD in order to succeed.
